WWII Japanese Type 88 Artillery Shell Fuze-Imperial Japanese Army-Inert Brass Fuze
Original WWII Imperial Japanese artillery shell fuze believed to be for the Type 88 artillery system. This fuze has Japanese kanji markings and timing marks including a “+” symbol. The construction includes the threaded mounting section and central striker rod typical of Japanese mechanical time/impact fuzes used during WWII.
These fuzes were used on artillery shells fired from weapons such as the Type 88 75mm anti-aircraft gun and related field artillery pieces. The fuze would be screwed into the nose of the shell and set for timed air burst or impact detonation.
