WWII U.S. Army Air Corps Western Electric BC-AR-231 Aircraft Radio Control Box

Original U.S. Army Signal Corps Radio Control Box BC-AR-231, manufactured by Western Electric in Kearny, New Jersey. This receiving control box was used with the SCR-AR-183 and SCR-AR-283 airborne radio systems. It allowed the pilot or radio operator to switch the receiving equipment between automatic, off and manual operation while adjusting audio output volume.

The box retains its original selector lever, output-control knob, identification plate, aircraft connector, telephone jacks and quick-release mounting plate. Displays scattered scratches, finish wear and storage marks consistent with age. Controls move, but the unit has not been electrically tested and is offered as a collectible or restoration component.
