WWII U.S. Army Air Forces BC-1228 Inverter Switch Box

Original WWII U.S. Army Air Forces Switch Box BC-1228, manufactured by Bell Sound Systems, Inc., Columbus, Ohio, under Order No. 3533-WF-43. The front panel is marked for Inverter Start and AC Volts Adjust, identifying it as the remote control unit used to start and monitor aircraft power inverters supplying AC power to airborne radio and radar equipment.

Constructed in a rugged aluminum housing with original military connectors, the BC-1228 was installed in WWII aircraft to control electrical power systems supporting communications and electronic equipment. Original examples with clear markings are desirable to collectors of Army Air Forces avionics and WWII aircraft electronics.

Condition is very good original surplus with honest storage wear and oxidation consistent with age. Lettering remains clear and both military connectors are intact. Untested and offered as a historical military aviation collectible.
