WWII U.S. Army Air Forces C-226/APS-10 Aircraft Radar Antenna Trim Control Box

Original U.S. Army Signal Corps trim control box used with the AN/APS-10 airborne X-band search and navigation radar system. Manufactured by the Gray Manufacturing Company for General Electric under 1944 contract Order No. 1239-DAY-44.

The hand crank allowed the radar operator to adjust and center the aircraft’s antenna trim using the prominent illuminated ball-level indicator. The AN/APS-10 was developed during WWII as a lightweight radar system for navigation, terrain mapping, storm warning and radar-beacon operation.

The unit retains its original crank, indicator tube, instruction markings, mounting ears and excellent identification plate. It shows honest service and storage wear, including finish loss, scratches and period-applied markings. The crank turns, but the unit has not been operationally tested. An especially attractive cockpit display piece for a WWII aviation, Army Air Forces or radar collection.
