WWII U.S. Army RT-39/APG-5 Receiver-Transmitter Radar Unit with MT-277/APG-13A Mount – Galvin Mfg. Corp.

Original WWII-era U.S. Army Signal Corps RT-39/APG-5 Receiver-Transmitter unit manufactured by Galvin Manufacturing Corporation (later Motorola) under 1944 contract, complete with original MT-277/APG-13A mounting base. Heavy airborne radar component associated with APG-series aircraft radar and targeting systems developed during WWII.

Features original black wrinkle finish, intact Signal Corps data plates, tuning controls, military connectors, spare fuse compartment, and rugged shock-mounted aircraft installation base. The large sealed cylindrical construction is characteristic of advanced airborne microwave/radar equipment of the period. Marked for 28 VDC and 115 VAC operation with high-frequency specifications.

The APG-series systems were used in airborne interception, navigation, and fire-control applications on late WWII military aircraft. Large complete assemblies with mounts survive far less often than loose components, making this a particularly desirable display and research piece for radar and aviation electronics collectors.

An outstanding museum-quality display item for collections focused on WWII radar, aviation technology, Signal Corps electronics, or early microwave systems.
