WWII U.S. Army Signal Corps CP-8/APG-5 Range Unit Radar Component – Galvin Mfg. Corp. (Motorola)

Original World War II U.S. Army Signal Corps Range Unit CP-8/APG-5 radar component manufactured by Galvin Manufacturing Corporation of Chicago, Illinois, the company that would later become Motorola. This highly specialized electronic unit was part of the APG-5 airborne radar system developed during the war for military aircraft applications.

The unit retains its original black Signal Corps data plate identifying it as a CP-8/APG-5 Range Unit, Serial No. 1665, produced under wartime contract Order No. 866-DAY-44. The cylindrical housing remains intact and features its original military connectors, carrying handles, and external fittings. Components from early airborne radar systems are increasingly sought after by collectors, museums, military electronics enthusiasts, and aviation historians due to their importance in the development of radar technology during WWII.

A substantial and visually impressive display piece that represents the cutting edge of wartime electronics and the rapid advancement of airborne radar systems. An excellent addition to any collection of WWII aviation, Signal Corps, radar, or military communications equipment.
