Original World War II U.S. Army Signal Corps Telegraph Set TG-5-B, manufactured under a 1944 Philadelphia Signal Corps contract.

The original data plate is marked:

SIGNAL CORPS
TELEGRAPH SET TG-5-B
Serial No. 10012
CAKU Order No. 9753-PHILA-44

The “44” contract designation is associated with 1944 wartime production of the TG-5-B. These compact field telegraph sets were designed to provide portable Morse-code communications for U.S. military Signal Corps operations.

This example retains its original olive-drab metal case and internal components, including the telegraph mechanism/key assembly, wiring, line terminals and battery compartment. The inside of the lid retains the original TG-5-B circuit diagram, which is an especially nice feature for display.

Condition is very good for an approximately 80-year-old piece of military communications equipment. Exterior retains strong olive-drab finish with scattered scratches and handling marks. Data plate remains clear and readable. Interior components appear clean and largely intact with expected age-related wear. Battery compartment is present and accessible.

The unit has not been electrically tested and is being sold as a collectible/display piece with functionality unknown.

An excellent original piece of WWII U.S. Signal Corps equipment and a great addition to a collection of WWII militaria, military communications equipment, field gear, Morse-code equipment, or radio/telegraph history.
