WWII U.S. Army Signal Corps TS-118/AP Radio Frequency Wattmeter Set with Original Case & Elements
Original World War II-era U.S. Army Signal Corps TS-118/AP Radio Frequency Wattmeter, manufactured by Bird Engineering Co. under Order No. 1042-DAY-45-SP. This professional RF test instrument was designed to measure transmitter output power in military aircraft and ground radio systems.
The unit remains housed in its original heavy-duty transit case bearing a U.S. Navy Property inventory plate (No. 217-235226), indicating later Navy service after Army Signal Corps procurement. Included are the original calibration chart, interconnecting cable, and a group of interchangeable Bird RF elements (“slugs”), making this a far more complete example than most encountered today.
The front panel retains its original Hickok D.C. milliammeter, selector switch, pilot light, and identification plates. Rated for 115 volts, 35 watts, with a radio frequency power range of 5–500 watts depending on the installed element. These instruments were essential for calibrating and maintaining WWII-era communications, radar, and aircraft radio equipment.
A highly desirable display and collector’s piece for WWII Signal Corps, Navy electronics, radar, aviation, or Bird Engineering collectors.
