WWII U.S. Army Signal Corps Western Electric Transmitter Coil Set in CS-47 Case

Original prewar or WWII-era U.S. Army Signal Corps transmitter coil set housed in its correct Western Electric Case CS-47. This equipment was used with the BC-230-series aircraft transmitter forming part of the SCR-183/SCR-283 radio system. These radio sets were installed in numerous early U.S. Army Air Corps and WWII aircraft for command communications.

The removable coil assembly covers approximately 2,500–3,200 KC and retains its original frequency-to-dial calibration chart, identification plate, internal components and protective aluminum carrying case. The exterior case is clearly marked “Signal Corps U.S. Army – Case CS-47 – Made by Western Electric, Kearny, New Jersey.” It shows expected military storage wear, scratches, oxidation and finish loss. Internal components appear substantially complete, but the set is untested and sold as a historical aircraft-radio collectible.
