WWII U.S. Civil Defense Air Raid Warden Helmet – White Steel with “CD” Insignia
Original U.S. Civil Defense helmet dating to the WWII / early Cold War era. These helmets were issued to civilian volunteers serving as Air Raid Wardens and other emergency personnel responsible for coordinating civil defense activities such as blackouts, firefighting assistance, first aid, and rescue operations.
The helmet features its original white painted steel shell with the Civil Defense “CD” triangle emblem on the front marked “WARDEN.” Interior retains the original cloth web suspension system and chinstrap assembly.
Civil Defense helmets were issued by the Office of Civilian Defense (OCD) and were widely used throughout the United States during WWII preparedness drills and emergency response planning.
A nice piece of American home-front WWII memorabilia and an excellent display item for any WWII or civil defense collection.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with normal wear from age and use. Paint shows scuffs and marks consistent with period service. Interior suspension remains intact.
