WWII U.S. M4 Bayonet/Fighting Knife by Camillus – With M8 Scabbard

Original WWII U.S. M4 bayonet manufactured by Camillus and later modified into a fighting knife configuration. Originally intended for the M1 Carbine, this example has had the barrel ring removed and replacement wooden grip scales installed at some point during its service life or afterward. The exact period of modification is unknown.

The guard remains marked “U.S. M4 CAMILLUS,” preserving the knife’s wartime origin. The blade shows honest age, sharpening, oxidation, and handling wear consistent with prolonged use. The wooden grips have aged nicely and give the knife a rugged field-made appearance.

Modified military knives like this are often encountered as veteran-used or surplus-altered pieces and have become collectible in their own right due to their unique character and combat-style appearance.
