WWII U.S. Navy GE GL-5FP7 Radar CRT Display Tube – Sperry Gyroscope Contract Box

Original WWII-era General Electric GL-5FP7 cathode-ray tube (CRT) manufactured in the United States for military electronic equipment. The tube carries the GE logo, “GL-5FP7” designation, “Made in U.S.A.” marking, and a prominent U.S. Navy anchor-style acceptance/inspection marking.

The 5FP7 was a specialized CRT type associated with radar and electronic display equipment, making this a desirable component from the formative period of American military radar technology. The large round phosphor screen and distinctive long-neck construction are characteristic of early radar/display tubes.

Especially noteworthy is the surviving period cardboard shipping box. Its label reads “NAVY CONTRACT No. NXS-3575,” Part No. 808112, Quantity 1, and “Sperry Gyroscope Co., Garden City, N.Y.” Sperry was one of the important American manufacturers involved in wartime navigation, fire-control, radar and electronic systems. The combination of the GE-marked tube with a Navy-contract Sperry box gives this example excellent display appeal.

Tube appears exceptionally clean and intact with no obvious cracks or major glass damage visible. Original box shows expected age, staining, edge wear and storage damage. Untested and sold as a historical military electronics collectible.
