WWII U.S. Navy ID-15/APA-1 Radar Indicator Display Unit

Original WWII-era U.S. Navy radar indicator identified by its data plate as ID-15/APA-1, with Navy contract/serial marking NXsa-23209. This is an early cathode-ray-tube radar display assembly from the period when airborne and shipboard radar technology was rapidly developing during World War II.

The unit retains its distinctive green CRT viewing screen with an original calibrated overlay marked in nautical miles, including 0–100 and 1–3 scale graduations. The cylindrical metal housing retains its wartime black textured finish, identification plate, electrical components, and attached shielded/braided cable assembly.

The red warning plate reads “WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE – DISCHARGE BEFORE MAKING ADJUSTMENT IN UNIT,” characteristic of high-voltage CRT radar equipment. The combination of the green radar screen, military data plate, heavy construction, and surviving cabling gives this piece excellent display appeal.

Condition shows considerable authentic service/storage wear, including finish loss, oxidation, scratches, surface corrosion, and deterioration/fraying to portions of the cable covering. The display glass and scale remain visually attractive. Untested and offered as a historical military electronics collectible.
