WWII U.S. Navy R-116/ARW-26 Radioplane OQ-14 Target Drone Radio Receiver

Original WWII-era U.S. military R-116/ARW-26 target-control radio receiver and selector. This specialized airborne unit was installed in Radioplane OQ-14 radio-controlled target drones used for antiaircraft-gunnery training during and after World War II. Working with the AN/ARW-8 ground transmitter, it received radio commands and used a five-channel audio-filter selector system to control the drone in flight. The same model is represented in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum collection. Retains its original data plate, USN marking, four capped connection ports, mounting cradle, release hardware, and heavy protective housing. Displays age-related dust, scratches, and finish wear. Internal completeness and electrical operation have not been verified; sold as an untested historical collectible. A scarce and especially interesting artifact from the early development of unmanned military aircraft.
