WWII U.S. Navy RL-9 Pilot’s Control Box Interphone Control Unit
Original WWII U.S. Navy Pilot’s Control Box for the Type RL-9 Interphone Equipment, manufactured by Air Communications, Inc., Kansas City, Missouri for the U.S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics. The data plate is dated March 1943 and retains its original serial number.
This cockpit-mounted control unit allowed the pilot to switch between Interphone (ICS) and Radio communications, select Channel A, B, or Both, and adjust interphone volume. It also features original microphone and headphone connections along with the military multi-pin aircraft connector. Components like this were installed in U.S. Navy aircraft to provide reliable crew communication and radio control during WWII operations.
Condition is very good original surplus with its original black wrinkle finish, crisp lettering, and intact data plate. Shows honest storage wear consistent with age. Untested and offered as a historical military aviation collectible.
